Srinagar: The situation in Sumbal is alarming. The residents told Kashmir Life over phone that the Shahzad bund near Petrol pump in Waenkipora is under severe threat.
Giving details, they said the work on concrete wall was started in March 2017 and is still in infancy. “A hole in the bund may wash out entire area upto Baramulla,” Nazir Ahmad told Kashmir Life. He added that after 2014 no thought was given to repair this bund.
The department in day had sent two Junior Engineers to the sight. But according to residents they could not do anything.
Another local Abdul Hamid said that it is only difference of around 6 feet right now and the area under bund is nearly 1500 feet.
Kashmir Life tried to contact MLA Sonawari, his cellphone was not reachable. The control room numbers given by government did not pick call from this newsroom.
