Three Arrested, Vehicles Seized for Illegal Mining in South Kashmir

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police in South Kashmir’s Kulgam  arrested three individuals and seized three vehicles for their alleged involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, officials said on Tuesday.

A police team intercepted a JCB and a dumper at Khrewan, both of which were being used for unauthorised mining activity. The vehicles were seized on the spot, and the drivers were taken into custody.

In a separate incident, a tractor was seized at a checkpoint in Nowpora. The driver was arrested for transporting minerals without permission.

Police said that cases have been registered at Police Station Qazigund under relevant provisions of law, and further investigation is underway.

Authorities have urged the public to report any instances of illegal mining to help ensure environmental protection and legal compliance.
