Three persons were arrested following an action targeting those involved in drug peddling in Budgam, police said Wednesday.

A police spokesperson in a statement said that three persons arrested for the drug offences have been taken to Police Post Humhama where they remain in custody.

“This is a part of proactive action initiated by Budgam police against the drug peddlers of Central Kashmir,” he said.

“Officers have seized huge quantity of fukki and Spasmoproxyvan tablets from their possession,” he added.

“Case FIR No 24/2019 under relevant sections has been registered in Police Post Humhama and investigation has been taken up,” said the spokesman.

“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law,” he said.

“Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” said police spokesman in a statement.
