SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police in North Kashmir’s Handwara arrested three drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
“A police team from Police Post Zachaldara, during a checkpoint operation at Sultanpora Bridge, intercepted a suspicious individual. Upon search, 6 grams of a brown sugar-like substance was recovered. The accused was identified as Raja Hashim Khan, son of Raja Altaf Khan, resident of Rengpath Kralgund,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.
Separately, a police team from Police Post Langate, at a checkpoint at Gund Kuhroo, apprehended another suspect. “The individual was identified as Naveed Rehman Dhobi, son of Ab Rehman Dhobi, a resident of Dangiwacha Rafiabad. Officers recovered 8.45 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession. Meanwhile, Police Post Magam personnel, at a checkpoint in Batpora, intercepted Basharat Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Rahim Bhat, resident of Magam Handwara. During the search, 7 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession,” police said.
All three individuals have been arrested. Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Handwara, and investigations are ongoing.
