Three Drug Peddlers Held in Kashmir: Police

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested three drug peddlers and seized contraband substances during multiple operations in Anantnag and Sopore.

“In Uttersoo, police apprehended Wasim Ahmad Khan of Sunglan during naka checking and recovered 800 grams of Charas-like substance. In another operation at Logripora-Manzigam Road, Jalal Din Bhat of Salia Panchalpora was arrested with 12.9 kg of raw poppy buds,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.

At Verinag, a suspect fled during patrolling, leaving behind a nylon bag containing 6.9 kg of green poppy straw. “He was later identified as Sajad Ahmad Padder of Gutligund. Efforts are on to arrest him. In Sopore, police arrested Farooq Ahmad Bhat of Hadipora, Rafiabad at Wagub Crossing and recovered 25 strips (200 capsules) of banned psychotropic substance,”  police said.

Cases have been registered under relevant sections, and investigations are ongoing.
