Three Drug Peddlers Nabbed in Kashmir, Narcotics Seized

   

SRINAGAR: Police on Thursday arrested three alleged drug peddlers in Budgam and Anantnag districts and recovered significant quantities of contraband substances, officials said.

According to a police spokesperson, the first arrest was made by a team from Police Station Chadoora at a checkpoint near Wadipora crossing in Budgam. The suspect, identified as Ghulam Rasool Sheikh, a resident of Wadipora, Chadoora, was found in possession of approximately 16.05 kg of wet green poppy straw-like substance. A case under FIR No. 104/2025 has been registered, and investigations are underway.

In a separate operation in Budgam’s Churmujroo village, personnel from Police Station Beerwah intercepted Sarwar Ahmad Tantray, who was carrying a nylon bag containing approximately 5.66 kg of ground poppy straw-like substance along with a mobile phone. He was arrested on the spot, and a case has been lodged under FIR No. 81/2025 at Police Station Beerwah.

Meanwhile, in Anantnag district, a team from Police Station Achabal intercepted a truck near Sharief Din Mohalla. The driver, Bilal Ahmad Mir of Rain Arther Larnoo, was found with about 8 grams of brown sugar-like substance. The vehicle, bearing registration number JK03F-5011, was seized, and a case has been registered under the relevant sections of law.
