SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday booked three ‘notorious drug smugglers’ under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla district of north Kashmir after obtaining formal detention order from competent authority.

A police spokesperson said in a statement that the notorious drug smugglers identified as Shahid Hussain Dar son of Ghulam Hassan resident of Sultanpora Pattan, Mohd Saleem Sheikh @ Mass son of Abdul Rashid resident of Malikbagh Pattan and Nazaar Ahmad Bhatti son of Bawar Ali resident of Madiyan Kamalkote Uri havr been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority.

“The booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu,” the police said.

“Pertinent to mention here that many cases are registered against the said drug smugglers and were involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Uri, Kamalkote, Madiyan, Pattan, Sultanpora and other areas of District,” the police added.

“Despite their involvement in many FIRs, they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth,” the said.
