Srinagar: Three drug peddlers were arrested on Monday in two separate districts of Kashmir- Budgam and Srinagar, and contraband substance was recovered from their possession.

The spokesman said that police in its recent action against drug dealings in Budgam arrested a drug peddler at a checkpoint and seized contraband substance from his possession.

Officers at a checkpoint established at Chahr-e-Sharif arrested a drug peddler identified as Mohammad Ayoub Mir son of Abdul Gani Mir resident of Trachbal Chahr-e-Sharif, the spokesman said.

He has been shifted to Police Station Chahr-e-Sharif where he remains in custody. Contraband substance Charas weighing 700gms have been seized from his possession by the officers. Case FIR No. 53/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered and initiated an investigation in the matter.

Meanwhile, Srinagar Police in its recent action arrested two drug peddlers at a checkpoint and seized contraband substance from their possession.

Officers at a checkpoint established at Budshah Bridge Srinagar intercepted a vehicle bearing Reg. No. JKOIN-9671 and arrested two drug peddlers onboard the vehicle. The duo identified as Bilal Ahmad son of Gh Rasool and Tanveer Ahmad son of Bashir Ahmad residents of Budgam.

Contraband substance Charas weighing 550gms have been seized from their possession by the officers. Both have been shifted to Police Station Maisuma where they remain in custody. The vehicle has also been seized in the matter.
