SRINAGAR: In the ongoing State Football League event, three matches were played at different venues of Srinagar on Saturday in which Novelty Football Club, J&K Bank and Lone Star Football Club emerged winners, a spokesman of the Football Association said.

In the first A-Division match played at Polo Ground, Novelty FC thrashed Royal Sports by five goals to nil. Adil, Rayees, Zahid, Lateef and Arshid were the scorers for the winning team.

In the second Super-Division match played at Synthetic Turf TRC, J&K Bank defeated Young Lal Chowk FC by 7-0. Sahil scored four back-to-back goals for the winning team, while Ateeb Shafi scored two and Zubair contributed one goal.

In Premier Division match, I-League Club, Lone Star FC beat AG’s XI by a solitary goal. Both teams played aggressive football throughout the match, but it was Faisal Wangnoo for the winning team, who scored the only goal of the match. He was declared as man of the match for his performance.

The J&K State Football League – 2017, involves district level leagues across all 22 districts.  The event is being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) under the auspices of State Sports Council and on the directions of All India Football Federation (AIFF). The premier division teams include JK Bank XI, Forest XI, Police XI, Food & Supplies XI, Accountant General’s XI, Maharaja FC, Iqbal FC, I-League Lone Star KFC, I-League Real Kashmir FC, Power Development Corporation and State Football Academy.

The funds for the event had been earmarked by the government during the budget session in January, the spokesman added.
