SRINAGAR: Three former Block Development Council (BDC) chairmen associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Reasi district have resigned from the party’s primary membership with immediate effect, Daily Excelsior reported on Monday.
Chander Mohan Singh of Block Panthal, Sham Lal Bhagat of Block Katra and Ashok Thakur of Block Bhomag submitted their resignation letters to the BJP district president on October 31, according to the report, which quoted a party leader who spoke on condition of anonymity.
In their letters, the three leaders sought formal acceptance of their resignations and the removal of their names from the party’s primary membership records with immediate effect.
According to Daily Excelsior, the three leaders did not cite any specific reason for their resignation. However, sources close to them indicated that dissatisfaction with the functioning of the party leadership and alleged internal organisational grievances may have prompted their decision.
The three former chairmen declined to comment on the reasons for their resignation.
Their departure is being viewed as a setback for the BJP’s organisational structure in Reasi, given their previous roles and association with the party at the grassroots and district levels.
Singh had served as a state executive member of the BJP’s Panchayati Raj Cell, while Bhagat was a member of the party’s District Executive Body. Thakur had served as Mandal Reasi in-charge (Prabhari) and district secretary.
