Three Gujjars from J&K among ten have qualified IAS examination of which results were declared on Thursday.

The successful candidates include Owais Ahmad Rana Bajad s/o Zahoor Ahmad Rana R/o Kalaban Mahndhar, Poonch, Qamar ul Zaman Chowdhary s/o Zaman Chowdhary R/o Surankote Poonch and Mehtab Ahmed Jagal, R/o Gursai Mendhar.

Pertinently, this is for the first time three gujjars got selected in IAS from J&K.

Four successful candidates are from Kashmir and six from Jammu region.

Abid Sadiq Bhat of Hyderpora, Srinagar figured among the top 30 candidates who cracked the examination.

Bhat (33) had already cracked the examination once but his desire for improving his rank was the reason for him to sit in the examination for the second time.

Bashir Ahmad Bhat (rank 189th), Raja Yaqoob (rank 274th) and Shakeel Maqbool Yatoo (rank 633rd) are other candidates from Kashmir who cracked the prestigious examination.

While Abid Sadiq Bhat has got into Indian Administrative Service (IAS), two other candidates have cracked Indian Police Service (IPS) and the remaining secured their berth in other elite all India services.

Yatoo from Hushroo village of Chadoora, is presently working as lecturer in Government Polytechnic Srinagar.

“Political Science was my main subject. I was concentrating on national and international issues and used to read lot of newspapers,” he said.

Abhishek Mahajan of Jammu secured 366th rank. This is the second time he has cracked the civil services examination. He is presently an IPS probationer undergoing training at IPS Police Academy Hyderabad.

Owais Ahmad Rana of Poonch secured 744st rank.  Son of a retired doctor Zahoor Rana, Owais is presently a Kashmir Administrative Service (KAS) officer, posted as Under Secretary CAPD.

Another successful candidate Qamar is also a KAS officer who secured 751st rank. He has already qualified J&K combined services examination and is presently posted as Deputy Registrar Cooperatives.

Mehtab, secured 1003 rank. A KAS officer, Mehtab is presently posted as Teshildar relief Organization Udhampur.

From Chenab Valley, Afaq Giri of Banihal also made it to the IAS by securing 585 Rank.

Vikrant Bhushan of Katra in Reasi district has also cracked the examination and has secured 954 Rank.
