SRINAGAR: Three persons, who were among 13 injured in a firing incident in Dangri village of Rajouri district on Sunday evening, have succumbed to their injuries at GMC Rajouri, officials said here.

The firing incident was reported in Dangri village this evening, creating panic and chaos in the area. The village is around 7-8 km from the main town.

Initial reports suggest that assailants, suspected to be militants, came in an SUV and opened fire at three spots in the village. The firing led to bullet injuries to 13 persons who were rushed to GMC Rajouri for treatment. Reports said three persons succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, while the rest are undergoing treatment.

Of the 13 persons, medical superintendent GMC Rajouri, Dr Mehmood told reporters that 10 are undergoing treatment. He said the injured with multiple bullet injuries on their bodies are being treated at the hospital. some of them are stated to be critical.

Police and the army have rushed to the spot and the area has been cordoned off. ADGP Jammu Mukesh Singh has been quoted as saying: “The firing took place at 3 houses separated at a distance of around 50 metres from each other at upper Dangri village in Rajouri on Sunday evening. A search operation has been launched in the area.”
