SRINAGAR: Three people were killed while two others received injuries in a road accident that took place at Chunga village of Mendhar in Poonch district on Wednesday, officials said here.
Quoting officials the news agency KNO reported that the accident took place at around 06:30 PM and two people died on the spot while third one succumbed to injuries in the hospital.
They said that the accident took place when a Tata Sumo vehicle was on way to Kalaban from Mendhar after it skidded off the road at Chunga village.
“The locals of the area immediately rescued all the five passengers, who were travelling in the vehicle, however, two of them had died on the spot,” they said, adding that other three injured were later shifted to Mendhar sub-district hospital, where another injured succumbed.
The deceased have been identified as Khadim Hussain son of Mohammad Din, Zahir Ahmed son of Mohammad Sadiq and Gulraz Ahmed son of Shamim Ahmed.
The injured were identified as Tazeem Ahmed and Naveen Ahmed.
Meanwhile, an official said that Police registered a case and took up the investigation in this regard.
