SRINAGAR: Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested three Lashkar-e-Toiba militant associates along with arms and ammunition in Sopore area of Baramulla district.

An police spokesman in statement said that a joint team of Police, Army’s 22 RR and 179 Bn CRPF arrested three militant associates along with two pistols, two pistol magazines, thirteen pistol rounds and a hand grenade during a naka checking at Chinnar-Darpora crossing in Bomai village.

The spokesman identified them as Arafat Majeed Dar son of Abdul Majeed Dar, Tauseef Ahmed Dar son of Late Ghulam Hassan Dar and Momin Nazir Khan son of Nazir Ahmed Khan-all residents of Sopore.

“On preliminary enquiry, it has been revealed that the arrested persons have been providing logistical and other materialistic support to militants in the area,” said the spokesman.

A case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Bomai and further investigations have been taken up, said police spokesman in a statement.
