At least three militants were killed in South Kashmir’s Buchoo area of Tral town in Pulwama district on Thursday when government forces fired upon a group of militants who were on a move from Buchoo to Laidyar.

Sources told CNS that police station Awantipora received inputs that a group of militants are supposed to move from Buchoo to Laidyar, Army personnel from 3 RR and other Para-military troopers laid an ambush near Buchoo. Sources added that after spotting the militants, the government forces targeted them which resulted in a fierce encounter. The encounter lasted for half an hour. Government forces pressed chopper into service to trace the militants.

Reports said that during the encounter three militants were killed. Government forces launched a massive search operation in the area to trace the other militants who according to sources managed to flee from the spot.

A police official confirmed that three militants were killed during the encounter. “We have shifted the bodies to police station Awantipora. He identified the three slain militants as Adil Bashir Mir resident of Dadasara Tral, Adil Shah of Routhsana and Tariq Ahmed Parrey resident of Laribal Tral.
