Three militants were killed in an encounter with government forces in Pazalpora area of Bijbhera in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday, police said.
“#Anantnag encounter update: Three terrorists killed.Arms and ammunition recovered. Identity and affiliation being ascertained.Search continues,(sic)” Police wrote on Twitter.
The cordon and search operation was launched by a joint team of forces including Army, CRPF and SOG of J&K police after receiving specific inputs about the presence of militants in the village.
During the search operation, the hiding militants fired on the search party. The fire was retaliated leading to an encounter.
In the ensuing encounter, three militants were killed and the bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter.
“Incriminating material including arms and ammunition was recovered from the site of encounter,” said police.
