The detainees were identified as Owais Ahmad Lone of Sedow, Mashooq Ahmad Shah of Shahlatoo, and Subzar Ahmad Gani of Check Choland, all residents of Shopian district.

Police stated that the three individuals were repeatedly involved in activities prejudicial to the security of the State and continued to engage in unlawful acts despite earlier preventive measures and proceedings initiated against them under Sections 170 and 126 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

Authorities further noted that even after completion of preventive legal formalities under BNSS, the detainees did not desist from activities considered harmful to public peace and State security, prompting stronger action.

Following all legal procedures, detention orders were obtained from the District Magistrate, Shopian, after which the accused were taken into custody and lodged at Central Jail Kot Bhalwal.

Police emphasised that the detentions form part of ongoing efforts to maintain peace, stability, and security in the district, and reaffirmed their commitment to act against individuals deemed threats to public order strictly in accordance with the law.

Shopian police added that they will continue to take firm and lawful measures to safeguard peace and security in the region.
