Srinagar: Following an operation to rescue the ten people who were buried under the snow avalanche last evening, three people including a policeman were rescued alive at Jawahar tunnel on Friday afternoon.
Earlier, an official said that mixed contingents of forces which include a Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF, SDRF and other security men are on the job to rescue the remaining persons from the other end of the tunnel.
“The trio was rescued and shifted to Qazigund hospital for the treatment. The operation is on to rescue the remaining persons,” media reports quoted an official as saying. However, the identity of the trio was not known immediately.
The incident occurred on Thursday, after a snow avalanche hit the police post near Jawahar tunnel, in the incident, ten people including six cops, two Fire and Emergency men and two detainees came under the avalanche.
In a similar incident, one person was killed after a snow avalanche struck Sunbradi village of Kokernag last evening.
