SRINAGAR: Three rusted landmines were recovered and safely destroyed in the Mendhar sector of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, officials said.
The mines were found in the Phagwari Gali area near the border village of Dharana Basoni while security forces were carrying out work in the area.
An Army bomb disposal squad was called in and safely destroyed the devices without causing any damage.
The Army uses landmines as part of its counter-infiltration measures to block possible infiltration routes along the border. Security forces have also reported instances of such devices becoming displaced following rains.
