SRINAGAR: Three kids from Pazalpora village in Shiva were injured Sunday morning after they fiddled with some explosive device they had discovered in a local nulla, police sources said. Two survived with minor injuries and third with slightly serious injuries that damaged his hand.

“They were strolling on holiday and they discovered something in a nulla and fiddled with it,” a senior police officer said. “It went off and two received splinter injuries and a third slightly major injury.” The officer said that the explosive device was of low intensity. “Had it not been a near-dud thing, neither of the three would have survived,” the officer added.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident, collected samples and sent them for forensic opinion.
“This nulla paves way to the school,” the officer said. “It is located between an army garrison and a stone query so we have to establish the device first for which forensic opinion is fundamental.”

Police identified the injured kids as Aakash Reyaz Bhat, Shakir Husain Dar and Saahil Rasheed Lone. Unlike the first two, the latter was shifted to SMHS hospital in Srinagar.
