SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday arrested a man accused of hitting three schoolgirl students in a hit-and-run incident in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, officials said.
According to officials, a car driven by Rayees Ahmad Rather struck the three girls at the Kulbagh–Qazi Mohalla link road at around 3:45 pm. Instead of stopping to assist the injured, the driver fled from the scene.
Police took cognisance of the incident immediately and traced the accused, arresting him within an hour of the offence.
The injured students have been identified as Fatima Jan and Tahmeena Jan, daughters of Altaf Parray, and Aliya Jan.
