SRINAGAR: In an effort to facilitate the return of Kashmiri Pandits, the LG-led administration has resolved to offer land at reduced rates to Kashmiri Pandit employees in Srinagar, The Indian Express reported.

LG Manoj Sinha visited the family of slain Puran Krishan Bhat, a Kashmiri Pandit who was killed in Shopian on October 15, 2022

Sinha declared the government’s commitment to making the necessary arrangements for granting land to government employees in Srinagar at economical or subsidized prices for constructing their own residences. He made this announcement while speaking to a gathering of displaced Kashmiri Pandits at the ongoing Bhaderkali temple construction site in Devi Angan Thalwal, Jammu, on Ram Navmi.

“We are striving to create conditions that will enable you to establish a permanent residence in Kashmir,” the Lt Governor conveyed.

He revealed that a designated officer in the LG Secretariat has been assigned to address the concerns and issues of the Kashmiri Pandit community. He further mentioned that community members can also raise matters with the Divisional Commissioner, ADGP, IGP, and the relevant Deputy Commissioner, and their concerns will be given precedence.

The Lt Governor instructed Commissioner Relief and Rehabilitation KK Sidha to ensure the regular allocation of completed transit accommodations to Pandit employees in the valley. The government is in the process of setting up transit accommodations at various locations in central, south, and north Kashmir to house the displaced Pandit employees.
