SRINAGAR: Thousands of Kashmiri youth including a good number of females wrote their mandatory examination for joining the Border Security Force’s (BSF). The tests were conducted at BSF’s Humhama centre, officials said.
Rajesh Mishra, BSF’s Inspector General told reporters that they have 1,356 vacant positions in the BSF and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for which 11,000 candidates had turned up for the physical round earlier.
“About 11,000 candidates had initially applied and gone through the physical tests,” Mishra was quoted saying. “Out of these, 5,151 male and 438 female shortlisted candidates have appeared for the written test today.”
The tests were conducted by the BSF at nine centres in Srinagar, Bandipora, Baramulla, Kupwara, Gurez Tangdhar, and three places in Ladakh including Nubra, Leh and Diksit. The list will be out by November 2020.
The test was initially supposed to be held on December 29, 2019, but owing to adverse weather conditions it was delayed.
“Result of written exam will be declared on November 3, 2020, and medical examination of the shortlisted candidates, and their appeals/review, if any, will be conducted from November 9 to December 26, 2020. The final area and category wise result of the successful candidates will be published on January 8, 2021,” BSF sources said.
