Kashmir Cyclothon 2015

Braving cold, scores of youth early Sunday participated in a cycling event on the banks of Dal Lake.

Impressions, an event management company had organized the cycling event.

23-year-old Usaid Qureshi, who is the event coordinator, said, “after forming the event management company – Impressions — we decided to organize a cycling event for a cause in order to encourage people to ride bicycles to make Srinagar clean and green.”

“It took us almost a month; we finalized all components for the race. The cycling event featured professional cyclists, students from schools and colleges who exhibited their talent and spread the message of clean and green Srinagar to create awareness among people of eco-friendly ways of travelling,” said Zaman who is currently working with the event.

“The event, titled ‘Kashmir Cyclothon’ – Pedal For Kashmir, had participants from all over the state of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

The cycling event started from Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre. The event witnessed huge participation for supporting the cause and making a difference in the society.

Waheed Ur Rehman Para, State Youth President of PDP and Political Analyst in the Chief Minister’s Office was chief guest on the occasion who gave away the prizes amongst the participants.

Para asked the youth to continue in such initiatives which shall help us in making our surroundings clean and green.

The event was managed by Usaid Qureshi, Haris Zaman, Waris Hussain, Tayba Sheikh, Rakshan Buch, Amreen Sheikh and Umaid Ashraf. They hope that their entrepreneur activity would attract others too.
