SRINAGAR: National Conference Vice President and former chief minister Omar Abdullah said that they told the Prime Minister that August-5 decisions on Jammu and Kashmir weren’t acceptable to them.

Speaking to media persons after the all-party meeting, Omar said, “We told him (PM) that our fight would continue for the restoration of pre-August 5 position and unification of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir which included Ladakh.”

He said that statehood along with a bureaucratic cadre was also demanded for Jammu and Kashmir. “Prime Minister and Home Minister both agreed that J&K needs an elected government because bureaucrats can’t understand the problems of people.”

On the delimitation process, Omar said that we told them to reconsider it because there are suspicions around it. “J&K has been singled out in delimitation. We told them.”

He said that one meeting cannot do whatever has been done in J&K since August 5.

“Farooq sahib told them that mistrust needs to be bridged.”
