A top militant commander is trapped in Beighpora village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama, police said on Wednesday.

A police spokesman in a statement said the contact has been established with the militants and a top militant commander is trapped.

“Exchange of fire is going on. Further details shall follow,” said the spokesman.

Reports said that a joint team of Police, army’s 55 RR and CRPF launched cordon search operation Beighpora during night hours.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering an encounter.

Pertinently this is the second encounter in Awantipora in Span of eight hours.
