One militant has been killed in the ongoing encounter in Buchru village of Kulgam, police said.
The militant, police said, was identified as Dawood Ahmad Sheikh, alias Furkan of Hizbul Mujahideen.
“Dawood 21 is from Qaimoh, Kulgam and was active since 2014. He was a most wanted militant”
The encounter that broke out late Sunday evening is still going on and another militant is believed to be trapped.
Special Operations Group of police and Rashtriya Rifles of army is engaged in the encounter.
