J&K Tourism Department has spent Rs 312.98 lakh on advertisements in print and electronic media “for the promotion of tourism” since 2015 till date.

“The advertisements have been made in local/national/international magazines, Newspapers, television commercials in local & National TV channels, radio spots,” J&K Government said on Tuesday.

This was stated by in-charge Minister of tourism in state assembly on Tuesday. The minister was replying to a question from Altaf Ahmad Wani.

The officials of the department have spent more than Rs 42 lakh on travel to foreign countries for “publicity” of Jammu and Kashmir as tourism destination in International travel events during this time.

An expenditure of Rs 14, 75, 000 was incurred on account of air tickets of officials for participation in “National travel events”.

More than Rs 12 lakh was spent on inauguration function of Pahalgam club, the reply revealed.

Moreover, it revealed that Kashmir received 927815 tourists in year 2015 which was around 2 lakh less than 2014.  Out of the total, 898861 were tourists from mainland India and 28954 were foreigners.
