News agency KNS reported that the tourists from various parts of the country and abroad are flocking to Kashmir to experience its snow-clad landscapes.

The Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department has reported a considerable increase in the number of bookings for hotels, houseboats, and other accommodations, indicating a positive trend in the travel sector.

While the festive season has contributed to the rise in tourism, the authorities are leaving no stone unturned to ensure the safety and security of both tourists and locals.

Stringent security measures have been put in place to create a secure environment for the celebrations. Local police, paramilitary forces, and additional security personnel have been deployed across key tourist destinations and public areas.

The heightened security measures aim to reassure tourists and create a conducive atmosphere for them to enjoy the festive season without concerns about safety.

Local businesses, including hotels, restaurants, and shops, are welcoming the increased tourist inflow as it brings economic boost to the region. The tourism sector, which faced setbacks due to various factors in the past, is now looking forward to capitalizing on the current positive trend.

JK’s Tourism Secretary, Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, expressed satisfaction with the thriving tourism in the region and anticipated a successful winter season given the rising numbers and positive trends.

Shah highlighted a notable increase in both foreign and domestic tourist arrivals, crediting stakeholders for revitalizing tourism.

“The sold-out status of Gulmarg and Pahalgam during the festive season underscores the positive trajectory of winter tourism,” Shah said.
