The disgruntled Maisuma residents Monday turned up on Budshah Bridge and blocked the traffic to protest against the “denial” of basic amenities.

The protesters said that the present dispensation is making them suffer for the want of electricity, ration and other basic amenities forcing them to hit the road.

“We have come out to protest the government’s callous approach towards us,” said a protester. “Despite registering our grievances repeatedly, the government doesn’t seem to care.”

The protest triggered traffic chaos in city centre Lal Chowk, stranding passengers for hours.

Meanwhile police had to resort to tear gas shelling to disperse the protesters for restoring the traffic movement in city centre.
