SRINAGAR: Traffic movement along the Boulevard Road from Lalit Ghat to Habba Kadal will remain restricted for five hours on Thursday as the Srinagar Traffic Police has issued an advisory for the “Run for Unity” Kashmir Marathon-2026.
According to the advisory, the restrictions will remain in place from 6 am to 11 am on October 1 to facilitate the marathon, which is expected to be attended by VIPs and participants from different walks of life.
Traffic coming from R.M. Bagh towards Gupkar and Lal Chowk will be diverted towards Badyari Dalgate for onward movement. No traffic, other than marathon participants, will be allowed on the Gupkar Road until the event concludes.
Motorists travelling towards Nishat, Shalimar and Harwan have been advised to take the alternate route via Dalgate-Rainawari-Hazratbal-Zakura-Burzahama-Tailbal-Chandpora-Shalimar, instead of the Boulevard Road.
Similarly, motorists travelling from Harwan, Shalimar, Nishat and adjoining areas towards Lal Chowk have been advised to use the Shalimar-Chandpora-Tailbal-Burzahama-Zakura-Hazratbal route instead of the Nishat-Boulevard Road axis.
Those travelling from Gulab Bagh, Zakura, Naseembagh, Habba Kadal and adjoining areas towards Lal Chowk have been advised to take the Habak-Dargah-Rainawari route instead of Foreshore Road.
The Traffic Police has also advised participants to park their vehicles only at designated parking spaces and avoid roadside parking. Vehicles found wrongly parked will be towed.
“All emergencies shall be allowed to take the shortest route,” the advisory said.
Participants in the run have been directed to park their vehicles at Zabarwan Park and Botanical Garden.
