Traffic on Srinagar Jammu Highway was restored on Wednesday afternoon after Border Road Organisation (BRO) cleared the massive landslide which had forced closure of the 300-km long Highway.

According to traffic police, a massive landslide near Ramban, has been cleared and the traffic from Srinagar to Jammu restored.

Nearly 2,000 vehicle, including 400 passenger vehicles, were stranded on the road following the landslide, said an official.
The Border Road Organisation (BRO) had put its men and machines on the road to clear the debris and open the road link to the valley.

A BRO official said it took a long time to clear the road since the landslide was a massive one.
“We first cleared the stranded vehicles and then allowed traffic to resume,” said a traffic official.
