The assessment was carried out through Independent Drive Tests (IDTs) during June 2026 under the JK Licensed Service Area (LSA), covering Srinagar city, Gulmarg, Anantnag, Pahalgam, the Srinagar-Pahalgam Highway and the Srinagar-Gulmarg Highway.

TRAI said the tests are intended to provide general telecom consumers with information on the on-ground performance of mobile networks operated by different telecom service providers (TSPs).

During the drive tests, live voice and data sessions were conducted using SIM cards of all TSPs across 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G networks. The exercise was designed to assess network performance across different usage environments, including urban areas, tourist hotspots and public transport routes.

Officials said the IDT findings have been shared with the respective telecom service providers for necessary action at their end.

TRAI is an independent statutory regulatory body established in 1997 under the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India Act to regulate the telecommunications and broadcasting sectors in the country.
