Train service remained suspended in north Kashmir on the second consecutive day while no train will chug between Budgam and Banihal in south Kashmir for the fourth consecutive day on Thursday for “precautionary measures” following militant killings.

An official said that all train runs remained suspended in Kashmir valley today following a fresh advisory received from police this morning.

“Train service remained suspended on Budgam-Srinagar-Islamabad-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region since Monday for security reasons,” an official said.

“A fresh advisory was received early this morning not to resume train service on this track for security reasons,” he said.

He added that train service on Srinagar-Budgam-Baramulla in north Kashmir track also remained suspended for the second consecutive day on Thursday for security reasons.

On Wednesday, the train service on Srinagar-Baramulla track was suspended following the killing of two militants, including Top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Naveed Jatt, in an encounter with government forces at Chattergam area of Budgam.

Earlier, two militants were killed after a gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Khrew area of Pulwama district on Thursday early morning.
