Train service was resumed in the Kashmir valley on Sunday after remaining suspended on Saturday for security reasons.

The train service was suspended following the killing of four militants, policeman, and a civilian during a gunfight in Srigufwara village of south Kashmir’s Islamabad.

We have resumed the train service on all routes in the Kashmir valley today, a senior railway official said.

He said train will chug as per schedule on Budgam-Srinagar-Islamabad-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region. Similarly, trains will also run on Srinagar-Budgam in central Kashmir to Baramulla in the north, he said.

This was the seventh time in June train service was suspended in the valley fully or partially for security reasons.

Last month train service was suspended 14 times in the valley and in last year train service was suspended for over 50 times in the valley for security reasons.
