Train service resumed on Tuesday after remaining suspended in south Kashmir since Friday following the killing of three Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militants, including a top commander in an encounter in Shopian.
A senior railway official told Kashmir Life that trains were running normally in north Kashmir between Srinagar-Budgam and Baramulla but was suspended on Monday in view of the election in Pulwama and Baramulla district.
A fresh advisory was received on Monday night to resume the service on both routes today, he said.
Therefore, he said, trains will run as per schedule on Budgam-Srinagar-Islamabad-Qazigund in south Kashmir and Banihal in Jammu region today.
Similarly, trains will also chug on Srinagar-Budgam and Baramulla in north Kashmir, he added.
