Srinagar

Train services remained suspended for the second successive day today on Srinagar-Banihal track for “security reasons” while trains will chug to northern parts of Kashmir as per schedule.

The train service on Srinagar-Islamabad-Qazigund to Banihal in Jammu region will remain suspended today for the second successive day for security reasons, official sources said.

They said the decision to suspend train services on Srinagar-Banihal track has been taken for the security of passengers and railway property following an advisory from state administration and police.

Pertinently, a top district commander of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) Ayoub Lelhari was killed in an encounter with forces in Pulwama on August 16, leading to massive protests in the region.
