Train service was resumed in the Kashmir valley on Saturday after remaining suspended on Friday.

We have resumed the train service on all routes in the Kashmir valley today, a senior railway official said.

He said train will chug as per schedule on Budgam-Srinagar-Islamabad-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region. Similarly, trains will also run on Srinagar-Budgam in central Kashmir to Baramulla in the north, he said.

“We were forced to suspend train service on Friday following stone pelting on Srinagar-Badgam-Baramulla track due to which windowpanes of some coaches were damaged. The driver of one of the train had a narrow escape when a stone hit front window,” he added.

Last year train service was suspended for over 50 times in the valley for security reasons.
