Train service was suspended on Friday for security reasons in the Kashmir valley in view of joint resistance leadership shutdown call against the recent killings in Kashmir.

Five militants, two civilians and two army men were killed in separate gunfights in south Kashmir’s Pulwama and Shopian districts on Thursday.

An official said that the train service has been suspended following an advisory received on Thursday night from the police.

Therefore, he said, no train will chug on Budgam-Srinagar-Islamabad-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region. Similarly, trains will also not run on Srinagar-Budgam and Baramulla in north Kashmir, an official said.
