Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday said that nine government forces personnel were injured after militants hurled a grenade at a forces party in Tral town of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday.

A spokesperson in a statement said that militants this afternoon fired upon the security forces when they were handling law and order on Tral road.

“Militants lobbed a grenade followed by firing on the security forces from a crowd when they were busy with law and order duties on Tral road resulting in injuries to the nine security forces personnel,” the spokesman said.

“Security force personnel exercised maximum restraint after being attacked by militants to prevent any civilian casualties,” the spokesman said.

“The injured security force personnel were evacuated to the hospital for medical treatment,” he added.
