In a bid to nab the assailants responsible for the killing of Sarpanch, his son and village headman, police Tuesday arrested at least six relatives of Hizbul Mujahedeen militants in South Kashmir’s Tral town of Pulwama district.

Sources told CNS that police raided the houses of Hizb militants allegedly active in South Kashmir and detained at least six of their relatives. Sources said that soon after the twin attacks in Tral area, police conducted raids at different places like Darsara, Hayen, Laribal, Rothsana and Hundura hamlets.

During these raids, Police arrested Muhammad Hamid Mir son of Bashir Ahmed resident of Dadsara (brother of HM militant Muhammad Adil), Muhammad Khalid son of Muzafar Ahmed resident of Sharief Abad Tral (brother of HM militant Burhan Bhai), Jalal-u-Din Khan son of Muhammad Siddique resident of Hundora Tral (son of HM militant Muhammad Abid), Tawseef Bhat son of Muhammad Khaliq resident of Hayen Tral (brother of another HM militant), Ghulam Muhammad Parrey son of Muhammad Ramzan resident of Laribab Tral (brother of HM militant), Sayaar Ahmed Shah son of Abdul Ahad of Ruthsuns Tral (brother of HM militant Muhammad Adil aka Peer Bhai), and Muhammad Iqbal Mir son of Abdul Rehman resident of Dadsara (brother of HM militant Shabir Ahmed) and Abdul Rashid Bhat of Noorpora who is the father of HM militant Zakir Ahmed. Police also arrested an Over Ground Worker Adil Ahmed of ChewluraTral.

A police official said that these persons have not been arrested but were called to police station for questioning.

Pertinently, unidentified gunmen struck in Tral area of the Pulwama district and killed a Sarpanch, Ghulam Nabi Mir, his son Firdous Ahmed and Numberdar Muhammad Anwar Sheikh on Monday evening.
