Two persons were killed, including a Kashmir Administrative service officer, and one more sustained serious injuries after a falling rock hit a trekking group near Kolahai glacier in Pahalgam on late Friday evening.

An official informed Kashmir Life that a group of nine persons including three ponny walas, were on trekking to mount Kolahai in Pahalgam range where they met an accident, resulting in the death of two persons and leaving one seriously injured.

The deceased persons have been identified as Naveed Jeelani, an alumnus of NIT Srinagar and a Kashmir Administrative officer of 2015 batch and Adil Shah, a Btec graduate from Islamic University of Science and Techonology, Awantipora, presently with the alpine group, a trekking planner, operating from Srinagar.

As the last reports came in, the officer informed that the group has already started coming down from the mountain. The others in the group have been indentified as Arshid Major, Hazik Beigh, Tousa Baba and Abdul Majid Rather. However, the names of the pony walas could not be confirmed. But it is being said that they are from Aru valley.
