SRINAGAR: A fire engine overturned on Tuesday morning while en route to extinguish flames that broke out in a residential house in the Wagoora area, an official said.

According to the official, information was received at the F&ES Station in Kreeri on Monday night regarding a fire in the residential house of Manzoor Ahmad in Durhama, Wagoora. Responding to the call, the station dispatched a fire engine to the site. “However, due to slippery conditions, the vehicle overturned upon reaching Kreeri, injuring five individuals onboard.”

“The injured include an LFM (Leading Fireman), three firefighters, and the driver and have been identified as Abdul Hamid Lone (LFM), Mohammad Abdullah (SgCt), Mohammad Ashraf (Mechanical Driver), Showkat Ahmad (Fireman), and Azhar Din (Fireman),” official said.

Confirming the incident, an F&ES Department official said that two separate fire engines were dispatched to the site to control the fire.

All injured F&ES personnel are out of danger, and the fire was successfully contained at the site with minimal damage. (GNS)
