SRINAGAR: US President Donald Trump has announced a 10-day ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon, describing it as a significant step toward peace and claiming it would mark the 10th conflict he has helped resolve.
Trump said he held “excellent” discussions with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during which both leaders agreed to initiate a formal ceasefire aimed at de-escalating tensions between the two countries.
In a post on Truth Social, he stated that the ceasefire would begin at 5 p.m. EST, approximately six hours after the announcement. He also asserted that Israel and Lebanon had engaged in their first direct engagement in 34 years in Washington, DC.
The US President further said he had instructed Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Caine, to work toward ensuring lasting peace between the two sides.
