SRINAGAR: US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that the United States had pre-authorised an overwhelming military response against Iran if Tehran attempted to assassinate him, claiming that “1,000 missiles are locked and loaded” and aimed at the country.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he had already issued orders authorising a US military strike on Iran if the Iranian government acted on what he described as a longstanding threat against his life.
“1,000 Missiles are Locked and Loaded and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, with thousands of more to immediately follow, should the Iranian Government act on its threat… to assassinate, or attempt to assassinate, the sitting President of the United States of America, in this case, ME!” Trump wrote.
He further claimed that “orders have already been given” and that the US military was “ready, willing, and able” for a period of one year, subject to extension, “to completely decimate and destroy all areas of Iran”.
Trump’s remarks echoed comments he made in an interview with the New York Post, in which he said he had already authorised an unprecedented military response if he were assassinated.
“I’ve been on their list for a long time. That’s what we’re dealing with,” Trump told the New York Post, adding: “The only thing is, I’ve left instructions — if anything happens, to just literally bomb them at levels that they’ve never seen before.”
Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal reported that Israel had shared intelligence with the United States indicating that Iran had developed a new plot to assassinate Trump.
Iran has not publicly responded to Trump’s latest statements.
