SRINAGAR:  Situated in the foothills of Zabarwan Hills, overlooking Dal Lake, the Tulip garden was officially thrown open to visitors on Thursday.

The Tulip Garden remains open for around one month as the life tulips is not more than 15-17 days.
However, the floriculture sows the tulip plants three times. “There are three periods: 10-15 percent are late Tulips; 20-25 percent are Late flower plants and around 60 % are mid flower plants which are grown in the peak tourist season,” said a Floriculture official.
Lieutenant Governor will inaugurate six days Tulip Festival on April 03 when Garden will be in full bloom.
Currently, 25 per cent of tulips have fully bloomed. In the coming days, the entire garden will bloom with tulips.
On the first day of the opening of Tulip garden, 4533 visitors visited the garden which is a record of figures are compared to the last few years.
Advisor Baseer Khan that during the festival, display of rich tradition, culture, cuisines and crafts on the stalls will be set by concerned departments so that tourists will become familiar with our rich culture and values.
