SRINAGAR: Two cloudbursts struck Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on Tuesday, triggering flash floods and blocking roads in several areas, officials said, adding that no loss of life or property damage has been reported so far.
The cloudbursts occurred in the Gahan area of Sarthal and at Machhipal, prompting the district administration to launch restoration operations, deploy machinery for road clearance and issue advisories warning residents against venturing near vulnerable water bodies.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha reviewed the situation and said he had spoken to the Deputy Commissioners of Kishtwar and Doda. He directed authorities to remain on high alert and ensure the swift restoration of affected roads, highways and water supply pipelines.

The LG said emergency response teams, field staff and specialised medical teams had been placed on alert, while damage assessments would begin after field verification. Immediate reports indicated no casualties, injuries or damage to property in the affected areas.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh said he spoke to Kishtwar Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Sharma after receiving information about the incidents and confirmed that the cloudbursts had occurred in Sarthal’s Gahan area and Machhipal.

Meanwhile, the Lieutenant Governor expressed condolences over the death of Pinki Devi of Khuddhar village in Doda district, who was killed in a lightning strike amid the adverse weather, and directed officials to provide immediate relief and assistance to her family.
