SRINAGAR: Police in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district have arrested two suspected drug peddlers and recovered a substantial quantity of a heroin-like substance, police said on Monday.
The arrests were made during a naka checking operation at Parigam Khalsa, where a scooty bearing registration number JK13H-6074, coming from Lerve towards Parigam, was intercepted by personnel of Police Post Parigam. A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of around 273 grams of a heroin-like substance from the occupants.
The accused have been identified as Mohd Aslam Malik, son of Mohd Yousuf Malik of Hanji Mohallah Bongam Kakapora, and Nasir Ahmad Dar, son of Mohd Shafi Dar of New Colony Kakapora. Both were apprehended on the spot and the contraband was seized.
Police said FIR No. 99/2026 has been registered at Police Station Pulwama under relevant legal provisions, and investigations have been launched to establish forward and backward linkages of the suspected narcotics network.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to intensify action against drug trafficking and appealed to the public to share information regarding illegal drug activities.
