Two Arrested in JK’s Budgam for Drug Peddling; Charas Seized

   

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir police in Budgam arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

Apolice spokesperson in a statement said, “A police team from Khansahab Police Station, during a checkpoint at Kremshora near a graveyard, intercepted a suspicious individual who attempted to flee but was tactfully apprehended. He has been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Sofi, son of Mohammad Maqbool Sofi, a resident of Chodribagh Kremshora, Khansahab. Upon searching him, police recovered three sticks of a charas-like substance wrapped in corn husk, weighing approximately 69.28 grams. He was subsequently arrested.”

During questioning, the accused revealed that he had procured the contraband from Mohammad Wahid Thoker, also a resident of Chodribagh Kremshora. “The accused further disclosed that additional contraband was concealed at his residence. Acting swiftly on this information, a police team conducted a raid at Thoker’s house in the presence of a First Class Executive Magistrate. During the search, a charas-like substance in powder form, weighing approximately 550 grams, was recovered, leading to his arrest,” it reads.

Accordingly, a case under under relevant sections of law, has been registered at Khansahab Police Station, and an investigation has been initiated, police said.
