SRINAGAR: Police have arrested two young men from two Shopian villages in Amshipora fake encounter case, reports said. They have been sent to judicial custody for eight days.

Informed sources in Shopian revealed that one of them belongs to the village where the particular army camp is located. The other one lives in another village on the border between Shopian and Pulwama districts.

It was not immediately known why they have been arrested. However, their role might be that of the collaboration in the fake encounter.

The arrest came within days after the Director-General of Police Dilbag Singh told reporters that the investigation into a fake encounter in Shopian is in the final stages. Police and the army swiftly moved after the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha assured justice to the families of the three Rajouri labouers.
